|Autumn and August|
August days shorten. A lone young osprey flies over his nest. His parents may already be headed south, their summer duties towards the next generation completed. Warm moist air from the lake lifts the tiny sanderlings from the jetty. In drab fall plumage they too speed southward perhaps to South American shores. Strange sunsets grayed by the smoke of distant wildfires have prevailed lately. Bright green blooms of color on our lake and on Michigan and Erie are appearing.
The monarchs are on the move as clouds gather and darken and move ashore. Over the distant Pacific distant hurricanes bloom. Beach hazard. Storm warnings. Ozone alerts. Autumn approaches.
